When I was writing horn parts(2 trumpets, bone and tenor) for R and B/Jazz-Rock bands I led in the 60's and 70's, my bible was Russell Garcia's the "Professional Arranger/Composer". This jewel will take from from ignorance to bliss in a short time but provided, for me, a lifetime of study. It will get you started immediately on simple lines and eventually moving into serious, creative composing. Highly recommended! Good playing . . . Marinero

I have this book too, or more accurately photo-copies of the Pompidou Library in Paris. I did not go very far because I arranged only for 4 voices and bass, 2 by horns, bass and 2 or 3 notes chords on guitar, this book helped me a lot for the basics
