Whoa, seems like you have just been waiting for a thread like this. I'll have to try each and every one of those little chord gems.
    Another basic chord: G79b5 X2322X

I like it. Playing CM you can add the bass: 32322x and also on the top 5 strings, C9b5: x32332 -- sometimes I'm lazy and just play x3x332. I believe the CM to "Christmas Time is Here" (posted by Matt Warnock?) can have a bunch of these.

3x255x - not sure what to call it... Gsus4 or something? Its the opening chord to Pat Metheny - At last you're here.

xx774x - F7, I really like the sound of using the 6 a half step from the b7th. Especially when comping a blues.

    6xx755 - Bbmaj7#11

Another one that's nice to try w/ the blues is F13: x6776x. Works well when followed by the half-dim shape a fret below (a Bb7): x5656x.

    6xx755 - Bbmaj7#11
Hey! I was just playing that one last night with a little 6-piece combo. Only the upper 3 voices though, since otherwise it sounds too muddy (we've got piano and bass in there). That sharp-11 is a gret sound, isn't it?

I also love the sound of the m11th on a modal tune (e.g. Dm11 at the 10th fret over a D-dorian vamp):

    10-x-10-10-8-x

I love 'em, too. Major7#11 is one of those chords that say "I'm playing modern jazz", versus, say, Maj6th which says "I'm playing swing". I sometimes wonder if I'm playing too many Major7#11s ... nah!

I have Becks chord workout so I already knew a ton of voicings I did discover stacked 4ths long before I knew how handy they could be. My favorite chords are a Cmaj7 and Dm7b5 I use then a bunch.

    sorry I just couldnt resist
I love these 3 note forms with or without the open string
    3,x,0,4,3,x G
    5,x,x,6,5,x A
    7,x,0,7,7,x Bm
7,x,0,6,7,x can also be barred on the 4th fret B2?

    2,2,4,4,2,2, Bsus2/F#(think Im just a sus2 kinda guy)
5,4,x,6,x,x, A third in octave (thankyou incubus)

    x,5,3,5,5,x Dm9

    x,5,x,x,5,x

When I look at that, I see Bbadd9/C.
Albeit, I am no expert in the field of naming chords.

I have the same taste when it comes to chords, in a dominant situation I like the 13s and the major 9s are also chords that turns me on - used in the right situations that is!

Forgive me if a prattled about this before, my memories going:

    x56563

(you can play that by barring the 5th fret with your middle finger and lifting its bottom up to fret behind it on the 3rd fret. I also cheat and alternate between x5658x and x5656x to get the same notes.)

    You could name that chord:

    AbMaj13#11
    Dmin11b5
    Bb13
    E7#5b9#9

So it can function as a major, minor, dom or altered chord! I like using it in all four ways in a VI-ii-V-I progression:

    x45452 (A13)
    x56563 (Dmin11b5)
    x89896 (G7#5b9#9)
    x9109107 (CMaj13#11)

I like how that slides up a fret, twice.

E7 9 13 - sounds a lot more vague without the low E in the bass - I like it.

I asked Buckwheat what his favorite chord was, and he asked me if I'd like to hear it. I said that would be awesome, so he knocked my guitar out of my lap onto the floor. It made a loud sound when it hit, so I asked him WTF?! Em11 is all he said.....

Aw, he learned that joke from Son House, 'ceptin Son would slap your single cone out of your hand when you were playing slide an' say "G."

He tried it on Robert Johnson one time, though, and Son were the one to say "WTF" that day...

Crikey! There's a year of practice on this thread.

    I like this E altered chord in a I-VI-II-V movement in G.

    3x345x (G13)
    x5666x (E13b9)
    5x555x (Am7)
    4x456x (Ab13)
which slides nicely back to G13.
    Very jazzy and voice leading.
