I'm trying to up my blues comping game a little bit (right now I'm working on a blues in Bb, "Sonnymoon for Two"). At the moment, I only know very basic dom7 voicings that work nicely between the I-IV-V changes...can anyone share with me some more hip dom7 voicings that are pretty easy to finger, yet might add a little more interesting sound?

Sometime the simplest things sound the best. For example isstead of just playing a C9, play a Db9, squeeze it and slide into the C9 without picking -- very bluesy:
------------
---4-=>-3---
---4-=>-3---
---3-=>-2---
---4-=>-3---
------------
Also, check out Joe Pass's comping

It's a C9/11 (C F Bb D C)

I was at a jazz workshop recently, where we worked on this very tune. The guitar tutor, Mark McKnight, showed me some nice changes. Here they are:
Bb7 | Eb7 | Bb7 | Fm7 Bb7 |
Eb7 | Ebm7 Ab7 | Bb7 Eb7 | Dm7b5 G7(b13) |
Cm7 | F7 | Bb7 G7 | Cm7 F7 |
I guess these are standard things to do in a blues, but some of them were new to me (particularly bars 6-8).
Enjoy

BigDaddy, thanks for the link to the Joe Pass tune. I'm working through it looking for ideas.

I have big hands and a good reach. Sometimes I play this one with the 13

That first chord is a G13 same notes as the top of this more familar chord, just thought I'd point it out as it's a new fingering for me, I like it.

P.S. If by any chance we ever find ourselfs in a jam we'll have to break it out in unison, we'll be tight.
P.P.S. I passed the audition.

here's a rootless 13th i love...
Bb13: x x 6 5 3 3
and a ninth, with a root, based off that voicing...
Bb9: 6 x 6 5 3 x
of course, the real fun in a blues comes when you sub the hell out of it...here's a nifty turnaround derived from a three chord blues in Bb--just some simple tritone sub action...
F7#9: x 8 7 8 9 x
B7b5: 7 x 7 8 6 x
A7/6: 5 x 5 6 7 x
Eb7b9: x 6 5 6 5 x
Bb9: 6 x 6 5 3 x
