    I listen to piano players for soling mainly. Lately I've been on a Red Garland kick again. And Chick Corea from the Now He Sings, Now He Sobs album. But for comping I take much of my inspiration from Garland. Huge Brad Mehldau fan. I've also seriously listened to Jarrett, McCoy, Oscar Peterson. But as far as ear transcribing a lot of Garland and Chick Corea.

    I'm going to listen to more Herbie Nichols and Monk.
    Here's a guy I met just once and heard him play. Friend of my parents. Al Tinney was awesome and a very cool guy.

    Cedar Walton! Brilliant unsung pianist. I've done some transcriptions of his solos. He can be note perfect and succinct.
