    Hello randaljazz!
Thank You for the link,I'll check it.

This holidays I'm working on finger-strenght.
I want to say that I'm in love with exercises by Abel Carlevaro.
There are 4 volumes of this book.
Volume 4 is for left hand.
I really like stuff like from ex.87 to end -superb.(Vol.4- legato)
This book opened my eyes for physics and anatomy ascpects of playing.

I think it's first "must know" for classical guitarists.
    These exercises really work.

Anyone enjoyed theese exercises, and what physics exercises could we use
to develop for example pinky finger,I forgot what's his name in p i m a? Greets!

assuming you mean the pinky of the right hand ( p i m a are used for the right, or plucking, hand; 1 2 3 4 for the left, or fretting, hand), c for chico (small) is often used (i have also seen q for meñique, the little finger)...charles postlewate has spent much of his life on this:

    charlespostlewate.com

for the left hand, try to find the karl scheit edition of tarrega's complete technical studies "sämtliche technische studien". also aaron shearer "slur ornament and reach development exercises":

Amazon.com: Classic Guitar Technique, First Supplement (Slur, Ornament and Reach Development Exercises) (Aaron Shearer Clasic Guitar Technique) (9780898987027): Aaron Shearer: Books

So setpatch, are you Yuri? I can't tell from your posts but it seems so.

BTW - your playing on your first link is very nice indeed. In one section it became a bit repititious, but you already know that. Anyway, your sound/tone was terrific!

I would love to hear anything that you have to share about Peabody, and studying with M Barrueco.

    Thanks!

I noticed Charles Postlewate was mentioned here. I studied with him at Wayne State University in Detroit. He is the pioneer of five finger right hand technique. I was fortunate enough to be a contributor to his Contemporary Anthology of Solo Guitar Music for Five Fingers of the Right Hand published by Mel Bay.

I think you might find this as well as his other publications useful Yuri. You sound great! I love the Keith Jarrett. Keep up the good work!

Since I am new here I will put in a plug for my website. I am very interested in classical and jazz guitar and my compositions merge the two. Hope you find it interesting. Thanks.

    Hello fumblefingers!
Thank You for interest in classical guitar.
I am not Yuri.I've just place him, because I was wondering how Keith Jarret
sounds on the guitar, some time ago and I finally started to search Internet
    for that.
I play the guitar many more than 20 years.
I was going throught this music school "road",so I know most of the mustknow pieces from Weiss-Giuliani-Rodrigo-Brouwer etc.

Now I'm confused, because Internet gives Us acces to scores we didn't ever see.
For example Brazilian or Spanish USA music sheets printed there are not easy accesible to other Countries (money?).

Anyway,I am also deep inerested in composing.
Question: How to start writing down own ideas on sheetpaper <-it's not an answer ,how did You fellows started ?

    Hello johnhall!
I fast checked Your website, and welcomed me etude 2 "expression".
Beauty composition.I'll search the site for more.
And about this pinky finger,I was thinking about left hand.I'll write about it moment later..

Today I wanna share my new concept of training left hand.
It works at evenings and if neighbours like to sleep much.

1.Buy a new pair of cotton socks (elastic are too thin)
2.Montage sock like on the picture - in attachments
3.Finetune a sock to have a really unresonant sound
4.Search for an audio file You like, but it must be something with You can
disconnect from analyzye it.I think not Jazz and not with any vocals.
5.Music must be rhytmic for example acidjazz or chillout.
6.Play the tune and start to play legato stuff or any physical excercise.
6a.Tune volume low that Your percussion effects fits audio. You must hear
rhytmics and enjoy how Your playing fits music.
7.Freely change to triplets and everything rest.
8.I am happy that it works for me.Average six to seven minutes of song
I don't stop of playing. And next and next song, and then You'll realize that
time swim faster (You can wake up after hour and more if You'll enjoy it)
9.It's a little trancy trick I think but You are playing, muscles are working.
9.If You feel pain, first slow down half, pain will stop, then try back tempo
or take a little rest.Threat your hand muscles with care.
10.Remember about massage whole hand (and this place which hurts after
    long barre chords.Goodluck!

A music could be like this two ones.Remember that You can loop the song in
any audio editor, cut etc.Add Your ones.

Hardly a new concept, guitarists have been doing that for literally centuries, except for the looping.

    Hello ronjazz!
I know, concept is preety old,but maybe somebody forgot that it exist.
    Greetings!

I am enchanted for now of left hand simple exercises presented by electric guitars players.Of course the gold key is to sit down and practice :Pat Metheny - "I was playing 12h/day" , Paco de Lucia - "Yes,I was playing 12h/day" Lucky guys. They had a time in their life with 100% day free.

Anyway, for example when I look for this video: (play from 1:16)

I belived that sitting down and practice works , strange feeling
Offside what music he plays, fingers are fingers,
a little harder on the real classical guitar.

The way *I* developed the use of my little right-hand finger I won't really recommend to anyone else, but it did work. I severely cut my index finger at work (I was a steel fabricator in those days) and had it in a splint for a month and a half. So I started using my other three fingers. By the time my index finger was healed, I could perform a very convincing rest stroke with my pinky, and make it ring out dynamically as a melody note over the rest of the accompaniment.

    Hello world! hello jazzguitar.be,!
Nylonstring, thanks also.I am now sure that developing other than 1st and 2nd finger is a give-back thing!!

From me - some fresh sounds by me:

    Greetings!

Mel Bay publishes two books by Charles Postlewaite about using the RH little finger.
    Highly recommended, for several reasons.
