This is a german folk-song sharing its title with a much more popular melody, that is known around the world. The complete german title is "O Tannenbaum, du trägst ein' grünen Zweig", which in English would be something like "O Tannenbaum, you're wearing green twitch". The meaning of the lyrics is close to the popular "O Tannenbaum", where these trees are presented as symbols of hope and perseverance during darker days.

I've chosen this one as my christmas song for this year, because at the beginning of december, my most important guitar teacher, Andreas Behringer, died unexpectedly and way to young. So this year I was more in a minor-mood and I dedicate this video to him.

You can download a transcription of it from my website:

    Beautiful!

I‘d translate the line as „you grow green twigs“. I don’t think a tree can wear anything.

    Thank you, docsteve!

I thought about „have“ instead of „wear“, but „grow“ makes sense too. What about „keep“? I mean, it‘s a sign of hope, because it keeps the green twigs, while all the other trees don‘t.
