Today, when we arrived at the job locatioin, it was a beautiful old house hidden in the garden, in the old Shanghai district. We had to play at a vintage themed birthday party of a 1 yo kid! His parents, swing affocinados, requested many American and jazz Chinses tunes. It was fun. Beofre the performance started the singer suggested I record something very quick video, sure! Good vibes!

Yeah…for reasons, I did it again, this time with an Epiphone Casino. For now, it still wears the stock (too light for me) strings. I will have my usual tech set it up with D’A Chromes 12s soon enough. Here’s the initial playing when I got home with it this evening:

I really appreciate the compliments. As I have mentioned before, this is the kind of thing I did on my old gig; improvising for two hours every Sunday. What I can’t do is play everything in the Real Book/Great American Songbook on command. I admire (and envy) those who can.

I finally finished resurrecting this guitar and had just put strings on it, played "Autumn in New York" even though it's the middle of November in Berlin.

A rendition of Black Orpheus. Been trying to get back to playing this guitar, which isn't the easiest guitar to play for some reason. It's a 17" L5 clone that i have hardly played for years now, more than 3" deep. I had some needed fret work done recently and it plays much better now, but still needs some time both for me to get used to it, and for it to "wake up". Lovely sounding guitar though, here it is recorded direct using a Tonex one little interface without much meddling on the Daw.

Another thread on postwar acoustic archtop players prompted me to toss off this one on my L-75:

A couple more, back on the Casino. The second one is frantic; but it’s been an interesting week, for reasons, so that’s what came out:
