    hi Little Jay and everyone

Im thinking of fitting one of these necks
on my yam pacifica (strat type)

any tips on what I should use to finish it ?
i like the feel of the wood without too much ,
could I just oil it ?

Be aware that if you change the scale length, you'll have to move the bridge, one way or another.

I love my new Gretsch 24.6" scale, brings me into Johnny Smith chord territory.

Hopefully I’ll be able to adjust the mounting of the new neck to suit
    the existing bridge position
I believe Little Jay achieved this on
    a tele style guitar ....

You're making a lot of extra work for yourself, and it sounds "hopefully" that you don't know what you're getting yourself into.

The most woody, natural finish options are tung oil or tru-oil. They are not very durable so you have to reapply them every year or so depending on the use.

Warmoth does not consider any wipe-on oils to be sufficiently protective and their warranty policy is voided if you use these oils on their necks or bodies. So there is some controversy around these finishes. I use shellac (French polish). Neck is pretty easy to finish.

In terms of mounting, hopefully Little Jay will chime in but I think you need to carve out the neck pocket just enough to make sure the distance between the bridge and the nut is 24.75". This type of thing is pretty easy to do if you have a Dremel.

Ive now had a change of plan ,
    keep it as is and
convert it to 5 string open G duties
and learn some Stones tunes etc
