    hi folks
    whats the correct way/tools to
    make the fret ends nice and smooth

    a concave fret crowning file ?
    or a sanding block ?

    can you recommend me one

    +1 on the Stewmac. Excellent tool. Finish the job with some very fine polishing paper like these: Micro-Mesh Soft Touch Pads | stewmac.com

    I can make my fret ends smooth as butter with these tools. Takes a little time, but the guitar plays much better after.

    I just did mine on a Tele that had sprouted quite a bit ( no longer a fret dressing virgin) using the stew mac kit. Worked out well and was simple enough following the vid they have.

    +1 on the fret end dressing file (and a good magnifier). I also wrap some 320 grit around a finger and swipe up and down the edge of the fingerboard tilted, at about a 45º angle (this is after a refret or a fret level and recrown). Then I proceed to sanding the whole fret with 600 and 1200 grit before polishing. Sorry the picture is blown up so big, I haven't figure out how to control this.

    A concave file is great for crowning, not for fret ends.
