Short of using blue tape like Jake Reichbart, kidding,

what is involved is it feasible, or moving the cutout for neck pup closer to neck

eg 175 neck pup hole/cavity is around 1 1/2" from end of the neck, could the cavity be filled or extended one side to bring closer etc etc.

    It's always gonna show.

It's guaranteed to result in an instrument which is challenging to sell and worth considerably less.

Here's a well-loved example played for years by some guy named Pat.

A patch could be glued in, but it will be pretty obvious. Filling the hole, then routing another, well into the patch, would be problematic. Probably better to route the existing hole bigger, then partially patch fill it. But I wouldn't do it. I doubt many luthiers would accept the job. It's difficult, exacting work and you're not likely to be happy with it once it's done. Resale value would be in the low hundreds of dollars, most likely, so it would cost more to get it done than the result would be worth. The filled holes in the above guitar are pretty obvious, and those are much easier to do than a pickup route. But it's your guitar, so if you have the extra bucks and the time to find someone to do it, go for it.

Unless something will cover the work, it will always be visible.
The cost/benefit rarely makes any sense.

    Here's a '53 ES-175 that was cut for a humbucker and then restored back for a P-90.

Just curious, OP, what is it you hope to accomplish by moving the neck pickup on an ES175 closer to the end of the fingerboard?

There was a 175 like that on ebay a month ago. Probably still there. The text said something like “I moved the pickup to the correct position” but it just looks like a vandalized guitar.... not recommended. Why not just sell your 175 and buy or custom order another guitar with the pickup where you want it?
