    Hi all,

I'm getting my 1980 Gibson ES-175 refretted because they were made with the fretless wonder frets and were really worn down at the same time. I told my luthier to just match the original but now I'm worried that I'm going to get wide and tall frets. What type of fretting material should I go for? 6130? 6105? What is the standard for ES-175s/L5 type guitars?

    Thanks so much

I happen to like Jescar Jumbo but you seem not to like wide or tall frets. Personally I only refret with Jescar frets they are better QC.

Jescar FW47104, nickel-silver or EVO Gold - your choice, and a new nut.

If you're not fond of tall, wide frets 6105 is a good compromise. At 0.090" wide it has a little more meat than medium but still easy to get a nice crown on. JESCAR EVO gold is available in that size and I really like it. The other good thing is that you'll never have to refret it again.
