Nice. Was this build easier than the first?

    Thanks!

edh -- Yes, much! Still not easy, mind you, but I've certainly managed to learn from a few of my previous mistakes. In the first build a huge proportion of time was spent reading and researching, experimenting, gathering tools and materials, building jigs, etc. So this one has gone much more smoothly in that regard.

I imagine guitar number 3,4,5,6...etc. will be much, much easier.

Progress continues in the luthiery... if only there was a luthier around!

I whipped out the ol' spokeshave and faceted down the neck...

Before moving on to the rasps...

    ... and finally the sandpaper.

With my freshly-made neck, I was now ready to fit the dovetail and glue it into place. Here we are, in the white:

I've starting on the fittings, and should soon be able to string it up and watch it collapse into splinters!

Well, I strung it up for a week or so and it held together. It also sounds reasonable, but as with the previous build, a bit choked and mid-rangey. The other one opened up quite well, and I expect this one to do the same. I think the noncutaway has added a few decibels, but overall I think the tone is quite similar to the last.

    The endgame is underway!

    Hi Jehu,
I can see you have chosen tru-oil for the finishing,

Right you are, my friend. This one needs to be ready to travel in a few weeks, so I really wanted a nice, hassle-free finish. So far I am very impressed with this stuff; I can see why it is the go-to finish for so many builders.

But for my next one, I have vowed to give French Polishing a go. I already have the flakes, so there is no getting around it!

Sorry for underdocumenting this one... it's been a bit hectic getting it done in time.
