Hello folks, I’ve been lurking here for a very long time but never posted. Guitar has been my entire professional life and I’ve made a LOT. Finally made an archtop for myself and I have to say I’m happy with it.

In fact, to a degree that means I’m going to sell my 175. At least that’s what my wife tells me. The next archtop is almost finished and I’m desperate to carve yet another. It’s by far the most satisfying guitar building process in my experience. I’ve learned so much on this forum and really enjoy seeing your custom builds. So here’s my long overdue contribution.

    Thanks for the inspiration. Joe.

suddenly overcome by the urge for a good singlemalt....I think it would pair well with your beautiful build

Hey Rickco, I can confirm the single malt pairing stands up to repeated testing. I’m often reminded of whisky while pouring out nitro. I know which fumes I prefer though. Here’s the next one….just got its final coat today and now a month of curing. Longer scale (25.5”), floating pickup, a little lighter build as I get braver with the bracing. I’ll post it here when it’s finished.

I dig the plane with matching back plate wood!

The headstock too - I usually prefer Gibson style tapering ones but this one looks cool too!

Thanks RJVB. That’s a Benedetto plane, very comfortable to use and pretty nice to look at too.
