And Nate Lopez solo on “CI”. There might be some ideas in these two videos to inspire you. “Cantaloupe Island” is a fantastic tune. “Cantaloupe Island”, “All Blues”, “Round Midnight”, and “Take Five” are all tunes that can heavily influence the mood of a set being open to different grooves, solos, and jams.

Did a short set at an annual street jazz festival yesterday. There were a dozen stages with 5 acts per stage. We were a quintet with TP, GT, PF, BA and DS, and joined by a couple of vocalists. There was about 50-60 people at our stage.
Here's the set list:
Strollin'
Sugar
Autumn Leaves
The Man I Love (VO1)
The Nearness of You (VO2)
Candy (VO2)
Blue Bossa
Strollin' was TP's choice, and mine was Sugar. On both of those we played the theme together. PF chose Autumn Leaves and BA Blue Bossa. The VOs chose their own tunes. The quintet was made up of regulars at a monthly jam session that I frequent (Venue B, if you've read my journals). We had one rehearsal last week.
We usually play Candy in Bb at the jam sessions, though the VO key was Eb. I worked out a short solo for each of the VO tunes, basically a half chorus each.
Things ran a little late, and there was another group scheduled right after us, so the leader asked everyone to take just one chorus each on Blue Bossa. Earlier, we all got a chance to stretch out a bit on the first three tunes. Strollin' is one of my favorite tunes; I gleaned some ideas for that from Chet Baker and Emily Remler.

Milestones (new)
On Green Dolphin St
Manha De Carnival
We shopped Cold Duck Time but our bassist was struggling with the rhythm so needs to do a bit more homework.

We did Green Dolphin Street with a quintet at a street jazz festival last month.
Manha de Carnival is a personal favorite, and a local guitarist here always calls Milestones.
Small world!
