Default blues shuffle - how to notate

Hello All.....
I would appreciate some help on how to write the following
" blues shuffle " tab in standard notation. I just purchased GuitarPro 5 and am having trouble getting this to sound right. Straight eighth notes don't work. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks..
Gregg

put in in one bar of 12/8, each note is the first or third note of an eighth note triplet.

That is built into the program

On the top click the word 'Bar', seventh item down in the drop down window is 'triplet feel', select that. Then select triple 8th.

Default blues shuffle thanks

Thank you for your responses to my "blues shuffle" notation problem. The combination of 12/8 time and setting the triplet feel to eighth notes in Guitare Pro did the trick. Is it possible to write a 12 bar I IV V blues shuffle in 4/4 time so I will be able to end on a beat that allows me to easily repeat the " 12 " bars using the repeat symbol ( i.e. semicolon double bar ) ? I can see I will have problems trying to do this in 12/8 time. Many thanks.
Gregg

Greg,

I'm sure Mr. B doesn't have GuitarPro, so his answer was correct in it was one way to solve the problem.

But since GuitarPro does let you set the chart to a triplet feel, using the triplet feel is the easier, and cleaner looking way to write a shuffle.

But you don't want to use both of our solutions. If you are using triplet feel, you should use 4/4 as the time signature. And you should write the rhythm figure in straight eigth notes (from your example it looked as though you were using quarter notes?). Setting the chart to triplet feel will convert the straight eigth notes to a shuffle feel (also known as swing - more or less). That triplet feel setting only affects 1/8th notes.

agreed-- if the program gives you that option, it should work.

Default Thanks - your suggestion worked great !

Thanks again...... using Guitar Pro "triplet feel" with eighth notes worked great. I appreciate the suggestions from both you people. For years I've played blues rythmn on the guitar but never had to try to write it down. Seemed pretty simple at first. I got alot to learn. Nice to know there are people out there willing to help..
