Default Help a newbie : )

I just had a great guitar lesson but now that I'm sitting down trying to wrap my head around it, it's giving me a headache : ) I'm playing Curtis Amy's "Meetin' Here" and we were talking about Pentatonic scales. My first question is: I learned today that over an F-7 I can play Abmaj, BbMaj, and EbMaj pentatonic scales. Could someone please tell me the interval relationship of these from F. He had me count them but I guess I didn't write it down. Also, what inervals are gained/lost using these three over F Dorian? My hats off to all of you, this is way harder than math or science IMHO. Thanks a bunch. Happy Holidays!
Sincerely,
Dave

F-7 is the 2nd chord and mode of Eb

Ab is the 4th chord of Eb

Bb if the 5th chord

You are playing all within the parent key of Eb.

So take the notes of Eb, write them out for each mode.

Then write out the notes for each pent scale. Compare them to the intervals that are in F-7. You will learn it much better if you do this. If you can't, write back I will break them down for you more.

Can you write out those pentatonic scales?

Can you write out the F dorian scale?

Lots of folks here can do it for you, but it's better if you do it yourself and come back with specific questions.

Thanks, guys! I'll break out the staff paper and give it a whirl. Sure wish I had studied this stuff as a youngster. Thanks for the tough love : )
