The major 6/9 chord is made by taking the major triad and adding the major 6 and 9, thus:

Db 9/6 = Db F A & Bb & Eb

Typical voicing: x4334x or x43344. Does anyone have a cooler favourite voicing for a 9/6 chord? On piano I like grabbing 2-3-5-6 or 5-6-9-10 with my right hand, but on guitar ...

On 6/9 chords, I use the usual voicing in all fourths, then I slip up and down diatonically to give it a nice in and out sound.

That's just me typing quickly. They mean the same thing; I don't know if one spelling is preferred or considered standard. Anybody?

6/9, or just 69, is standard AFAIK.

Putting that F on top is a bit stretchy, but nice...I might only play the meat and potatoes of the chord...

Like x (4) x 3 4 1

Btw, I don't like 9/6. Odd number first dictates dominant chord to me...

I'll often include a 7/6 chord in a personal chart as a reminder to play a dominant voicing plus a 6th (13th) but the 9th and 11th are NOT part of the picture...

If playing with a bassist, I'd use the top 4 of that 2nd one: x-x-3-3-4-4, but also maybe these:

x-x-6-8-6-6 (5-9-3-6)

x-x-11-10-11-11 (R-3-6-9)

x-x-8-10-9-11 (6-3-5-9)

- and not forgetting that often a voicing omitting either 6th or 9th (whatever else is included) will do.
