Default chordal soloing

I just became part of a trumpet-electric bass-guitar trio and would like to improve my ability at chordal (vs. single notes) solos. I'm listening to lots of recordings to get ideas but wonder if there are any good books on this subject. Thanks.
Norm

There's a couple books of Wes Montgomery transcriptions. Check those out.

Also snoop around the Ted Greene tribute site, lots of good free stuff there.

My apologies, I must have posted to the wrong group.

Nope, just some idiot spammer in that post above. We get them all the time. Especilally footware people.

Anyway Norm back to your question. Get the Joe Pass Chord Solo Book. The one with Misty, Ode to Billie Joe, Days of Wine and Roses. Learn every tune.

Default chords for Norm

try these chords, ( strings 6 4 & 3 ) string 6, fret 5 - string 4, f4 - string 3 f4 ( R, 6, 9 )
(strings 6 4 3 & 2 ) string 6, f5 - string 4, f4 - string 3, f4 - string 2, f5 - ( R, 6, 9, 5 ) (strings 5,4,3,2,) string 5, f4 - string 4, f4 - string 3, f4 - string 2, f5 ( R, 4th, mi..7, mi. 3rd ) These chords are very movable and fit with most any melodic line. Of course this is a very simplistic view. Hope I have not insulted your intelligence. Would like to help further if you are interested.
Stephan

I'd listen to some of the chord solos Jimmy Bruno incorporates after his single note solos on some tunes off of his album, Sleight Of Hand.

learn chord theory...to root third and fifth,6th,7th,9th,11th,13th..

what is the note of the melody?..put that note on the first string (to start)..which is the top note..now using the 2nd 3rd 4th 5th strings...harmonize the note with the chord..chord on bottom and melody note on top....

time on the instrument...pierre
