Marten I am new to the 7-string also.About the only book I was able to find was Mel Bay's Complete 7-string method.I'm slowly getting in to it.But it looks like a good place to start.
Hi Marshall, does the book work with the 7th tuned to a low A? It seems to me to be the most practical way... That way you get an octave under the 5th string - feels convenient! Also, players I've checked on Youtube seem to be playing that way.
Matren; The low 7th string is tuned to A.It's a lot of fun to play around with, learning sparser chords etc.I'm having a blast!I'm just not worth a crap on it yet. Marshall
A few guys have used B though, which creates a somewhat more logical geometrical layout of the fretboard.
I have a vague memory of some Jazz Guitarist (?, but on a 6 string) who tuned his strings ALL in perfect 4ths (so the top two strings were C & F, not B & E). Too logical?
