Default A quick tone test, which do you like better A or C

I'm just comparing two recording rigs. Any preferences?

First listen >heard no difference

Second listen >A

Multiple play back over first few seconds >A. sonic energy level was much more excited.

After more comparative listening, my brain went overload and I couldn't hear any difference, again.

Listening sources: Tivoli PAL & bose headphones

I'm only listening on mediocre computer speakers.
They sound very similar, but I think I liked 'C' better.
It sounded like it had more 'air'.
Man, when you said you had a light touch, you weren't kidding - I mean that as a compliment!

Hi Tom. I think it's a function of playing with my nails for so many years. Playing with a really light touch prevents them from wearing and chipping. it also removes the click of the nails from my attack. It does make it a little weird when I'm working at guitar shows and someone sits down at my rig. Suddenly everything gets VERY loud.

I like A, it has more of a room sound. C sounds more direct in.

I prefer A... it is a little warmer and softer.
C- is more "agresive" and louder/ " more direct in" like said cosmic gumbo/.

Both sound great but I prefer A - sounds a bit cleaner to me. There seems to be (at least to my ears) a pronounced slow reverb in C that I don't hear in A.

Thanks guys.

Several people had mentioned the level of background hiss in my previous recordings. It wasn't really apparent through my speakers with
all the ambient noise in the room but it was very obvious when I listened through headphones this morning. I did some testing and it seemed to be coming from my interface/preamp. I prefer working with the tracks that I get through the interface because the detail is easier to see on the scree, but recording via USB may be the only practical solution for improving the noise levels. So here's a rough take on the entire song record direct via the USB. This time I'm not going to say which modeler it was. I think the sound is pretty good but I mostly want to know if I've gotten rid of the hiss.

(And listening to this through headphones, it becomes increasingly clear to me that there really is no where to hide when you're playing music like this. I'm probably my own worst critic but I hear every single flaw).
