Great job! Not an easy tune to play!
I don't much about what Jimmy Rosenberg is up to these days-I certainly hope he is playing. I know he has had his share of problems and been in jail etc. I hope he has put all of this behind him.

This is the last footage of him:
Zigeunergitarist Jimmy Rosenberg in het OK / video-2011-04-10-19-33-35.3gp - YouTube

You can see what kind of people he is surrounded with. Not very uplifting.
It's good he has his bandmates and family though. When he is not strung out, he plays well but here it seems he was in a bad shape.

When he was at the top of his game, he was one of the best in the genre. I know he can get back to the top again, but his drug use sabotages it. I hope he can kick the drugs one day(The hard stuff of course, a reefer every once in a while never hurt nobody).
His brother Nomy is really becoming an awesome player.

He is blessed with a rock solid rhythm player though. Ringo Steinbach has one of the most solid "la pompe" I've ever heard. Up there with Nous'che Rosenberg and Hono Winterstein for sure.

He looks a lot older than he is in that clip and his playing isn't as good as it used to be. He is still great though and I hope he will keep on playing.
There was a recent documentary called "Jon and Jimmy" that looks interesting. Norwegian guitarist Jon Larsen has known and played with Jimmy for years and this movie is about their relationship.

It's an ok documentary, but Jimmy gets no profit from it so many dutch people have boycotted it.
The dutch documentary "The father, the son and the talent" is much more in depth although there are no subtitles. But you can understand a lot just from watching. That documentary also has a lot more playing, and he wasn't in too bad shape playing wise although his drug use was heavy at the time.
Here's a link to watch it online: Jimmy Rosenberg - de vader, de zoon & het talent Documentairenet.nl

I've bought Jimmy's two DVD's "Jimmy Rosenberg is back" and "Live at the Bimhuis". Jimmy gets money from the sales, so it's a good way to help him.
You can buy them on the Djangobooks website if you're interested.

Man! You've broken my heart. I did not know much about Rosenberg but I liked his playing. Drugs and to some extent, Alcohol are the serpents in the Garden of Music. When I started researching the lives of many of the artists I like, I found that drugs and alcohol abuse often seemed to have a prominent role at some point. Why does it have to be that way? What makes it so hard to separate them?
