| | My New Demo CD Hi all,
Ive recently finished an 11 track demo cd. Ive posted a link to 7 of the tracks from it and hope that you enjoy listening to the songs. its a solo guitar album with looped sections and bits of overdubbing here and there. I recorded it at home over a few months. I'm currently re-writing it to include a trumpet and to have no loops or anything in there.
Let me know what you think and if you like it!
I recorded it with a Yamaha Silent guitar (which i've now upgraded to a 7 string frameworks nylon) and a Carvin fatboy (the holdsworth one).
I cant find out how to put the tracks in order on the website so my suggested listening order is:
1 Ted entrance
2 Lakes
3 Lost In the wood
4 Ivys Song
5 Painters
6 Squeeze
7 Regression John Bailey Music UK's sounds on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free
Thanks
John

| | It is nicely done. I wished it had at least one swinging tune, but I see that's not your style. |

| | I listened to a few of the pieces and really enjoyed them, very nice ECM sound..shades of Ralph Towner and Wolfgang Muthspiel (I assume you're aware of his Solo album which has a similar vibe)...great tones and playing and I'd be interested to hear your pieces with a rhythm section where you could stretch even more. Overall great stuff, best of luck with it! |

| | Those Yamaha silent guitars are pretty cool. How much did you pay for one? They don't come too cheap here in Japan. |

| | thanks for watching guys!
Im a massive wolfgang, and towner fan. in fact i went over to switzerland for a lesson with wolfgang a while ago and to play him some of the pieces from the demo. Very very nice bloke! I hope to go and have a lesson with Ralph at some point next year as well but these guys are very busy and don't really do private tuition generally!
I played a with a trio for a while but I'm not a big fan of trying to motivate people into rehearsing! everyones very busy and I don't like to nag!
Im doing something with a drummer friend. Just a duo at the moment but we'll be improvising to film in a live situation. Kind of batik era towner.
Im actually selling my yamaha if you're interested. £350. I think they go for around £500 new. |

| | Nice one John, a bit jealous about the Wolfgang lesson-I'd love to have one myself....and I know what you mean about getting a band together but it's worth it. Best of luck with the album and hope to catch you live somewhere.. |

| | thanks again guys!
Yes it was a quite an experience having a lesson with him. We went and had a couple of beers as well and then went to a jam session at the basel jazz institute!
I think getting a band together is easy in leeds, manchester or london but theres not many people in Preston who can commit too much.

| | Well, if it's any consolation getting a band together in Leeds is not easy either...it takes a lot of luck/time/effort/money but when it happens it's worth it...
Since we're both Wolfgang fans, here's a bit of inspiration and once again, good luck with the album... Drumfree Trio - Live at Altes Kino St. Florian 2011 09 23 - Sunspot - YouTube |

| | Yeah, same here, both BA and MA...but most good players that I knew (including my bass player and drummer) have moved to London..so suggestions welcome and let me know if you're in Leeds anytime soon. I'd be up for a jam...Cheers, Themis |
