I was trying this stuff out on the Catfish Strut, but it just wasn't happening. The strange thing is, I don't seem to feel very bad about it....

I practiced this in the kitchen with a mandoline, a cucumber and a couple of carrots; I got a chopped salad sandwitch in no time flat..!

Just classic CG smartass humor Morten. He's suggesting these sweeps might not work so well over an early jazz tune like "Strut." I have no idea where he got that idea either.

ok, looks more like an insult than humor to me.

Excactly. Un-funny, and easy to read between the lines.. Oh well, some people like to step on others.

Hey CG, since you got PM and email blocked, I gotta call you out here. That crack was kinda mean spirited, dontcha think? The catfish strut part's fine, the second half--not so much...no need for it.

Morten, at your (high) level of playing, I wouldn't worry about little digs on a forum. Keep playing and posting vids.

It's better to be pissed off than pissed on.

Most of your lessons are a bit beyond my level yet, but I appreciate them just the same.... like a lot of the material on this forum, I treat them as a sort of language immersion.... absorb as much as I can and hope that when my ability catches up with my theoretical understanding of the material it will be that much easier to tackle.

Hey Morten...I totally dig all your playing and lesson and really love your approach. I was checking out your acoustic version and noticed when you start to increase your picking speed, you would straighten up your wrist with your arm... almost start to lock up. I'm sure it trashes your looseness and ability to relax which hurts speed. I'm only bring up to help.... not that you really need any, your too dam good already... check it out ...Reg

Reg I have the same problem but have been confounded as to how to fix it. I used to practice picking from my wrist a lot but didn't have much success.

Thanks so much man, that's great of you to say, and of course, right back at you, your playing is totally awesome! And you have that kind of right hand technique that seems to just come naturally for you. to me, it's a never-ending battle!!

However, it has gotten A LOT better during the last year or so, I am actually pretty happy with it at this point, for the most part. On acoustic, when I have to produce higher volume, it tend to get stiff, so I just stay away from the acoustic as much as I can!! ;-)
