Music Beginner jazz guitar solos

Been playing jazz guitar for 3 months and I'm wondering if it's good enough for this short time span or if I've been slacking and should have been better
Sorry for the short demos.I tire easily

These are the newest ones:

2shared - download mr improv 2 (06.01.2011).mp3
2shared - download mr improv 1.mp3
2shared - download jzz.mp3

These are from a month ago:

2shared - download elec j 4.mp3
2shared - download electric jazz 5.mp3
2shared - download electric jazz2.mp3

The progression is borrowed from the song "My Romance".

Oh...and here's a primitive chord-melody of Beautiful Love...

Waiting for feedback...

100+ views and no comments? This is rather odd

Hi,

How long have you been playing guitar? For only 3 months working on jazz I think you're heading in the right direction. What kind of guitars are you using?

Make a list of things you have worked on for the past 3 months. It might help others here give more ideas for you.

Keep it up!

Thank you for your comment.

I've been been playing for 5 years (1 year of noodling, 1 year with a blues-rock teacher, 3 years on my own and 3 months with a jazz teacher).

I'm using a crappy acoustic guitar and a squire affinity tele, but I'm not gonna stick to the tele.I've put it up for sale and planning on buying a jazz box pretty soon.

I'll make that list of things I've worked on, but right now I'm quite in a hurry.

PS.I know I've put up like 6 demos, but it's really not a lot to go through (it's only 6 minutes worth of audio).

Peace

I would say work on locking in your time feel a lot more. One really tough part about the transition from rock/blues to jazz is the importance of clean subdivision. Rock and blues guitar will be subdivided somewhat neatly and punctuated with blurs and bursts of notes or intensely laid back licks. These are largely for effect and are important for the overall feel of the rock music. Jazz on the other hand is very strictly subdivided. Triplets need to be triplets, 8ths need to be eighths etc. There is room of course for playing with the time feel but you need to be rock solid on your time before you start working that in... believe it or not, the slow tempos you picked actually make this much more difficult. I totally understand that you're in a weird place where tempos need to be slow for you to make the changes but need to be somewhere faster for you to lock in the time. It's a tough place to be but try working on your time on some nice blueses or really repetitive ii-V-I's at a nice lazy swing tempo. mm100ish? Something that's nice and slow but can help your time a bit.
