Help Mixcraft software.

Hi all,
I was recently considering changing over to Mac, specifically to get Garageband. I can't however, justify the expense for one program.
While discussing this with some friends, Mixcraft was mentioned as a PC alternative to Garageband. Also mentioned was Sony Acid Pro.

If anyone here is familiar with either of these programs, I would really appreciate comments.

Cheers, Ron

Hi Ron,
I'm a mac user, not for garageband, for other reasons. I got Garageband as a bonus, though, but I've got a dell as well, and the main purpose for using garageband for me is the sequencer ability, to write lines for the other instruments and get extremely good, almost real sounding band. But for recording the guitar I use either Ableton live or Reaper. They are both better at least to my ears. Final mix I always do in Audacity, very neutral, and with limiting abilities to get a somewhat ok level. The ones you mention I'm sad to say I never tried. Both Reaper and Ableton are there for PC as well as Mac, you might try those if you haven't already.
Peace
Skei

Thanks skei,

I've been shying away from "real" recording software because I don't have the savvy or patience to learn how to use it! I'm very- I want it NOW! LOL

I'm really looking for a compositional tool and something to make backing tracks for my students.

BIAB is great for Jazz. Not very good for rock...

Thanks for the reply. More input always welcome.

Cheers, Ron

Now Mixcraft version 5 is available. Mixcraft 5 is a powerful yet easy-to-use multi-track recording studio that enables you to record audio, arrange loops, remix tracks, compose with virtual instruments, score and edit video, and add effects to create stunningly professional compositions.
