| | software for transcribing? Is there software available that slows down audio files whilst keeping them in the original key, that I could use for transcribing? |

| | +1 for Transcribe! - the interface is optimised for transcribing so much easier to use for this task than a standard audio editor

| | Transcribe! I also use transcribe because it is so versatile in terms of isolating difficult passages and I don't need to use an instrument to use it. In years gone by, none of this software was available and transcribing was difficult but still doable with some effort.

| | + 1 for Transcribe!
My trial runs out in a few days and will definitely be purchasing a license.
The sound quality of slow time and ease of use make it well worth it.
You are 2 clicks away from recording whatever is running through your soundcard at the time. I wont be going back to using normal recording software. |

| | "Transcribe!" is a fantastic tool, well it is written by a jazz guitarist what do you expect?! I've used it for years now from early versions on the PC to version 8.00.3 on my Mac and it just gets better. I did a little transcribing guide a while ago which you can get to from this link: How to transcribe… aswas |

| | Audacity is free and I found it as good if not better than Transcribe. I have to warn though: I personally do not feel that this software does any good for your ears and may even be harmful in the long run. I have stopped using it basically, and I now try to get as much as I can at "normal" tempo. I still use things like the loop function though. |

| | I really just copy some solos on the guitar and memorize, and then occasionally write them out. This was recommended by a few people like Pat Martino in his videos, etc... |
