Default Audacity Software

If you're looking for a simple software package to record with try Audacity. Best of all, it's free!

Audacity: Free Audio Editor and Recorder

To start with, you can use any pc mic. I use a Line 6 TonePort UX-1 usb interface (I purchased used) with the supplied PodFarm modelling software. I'm into the whole thing for $100.

Yes, Audacity is really good - especially for beginners in recording. I changed to Cubase LE 5 a few weeks ago because I wanted full midi functions and a friend of mine works with it too. But Cubase is much more difficult.

If you want proper DAW on low money there's only one way to go : Reaper. It's 60$ or smth for individual/small business use.

Then you pick some free vst-s here and there and you're set.

Default audacity

I have been using th free audacity software for editing live sessions. It works really good for editing but I have never tried it for recording.
