| | Behringer Guitar Link Ucg102 Does anyone had used this? BEHRINGER: UCG102
I think it's a cheap way to record and compose but want to know a personal view of the item. To me, it's like a sound card attached to your computer, and it cames with softwares what makes the offer more tempted. I want to know if the A/D conversor is fine? is the software really useful? Do I have another option to do the same with similar cost?
Thanks to all. I'm just a beginner who's trying to stay alive in this epic adventure that is called: jazz. |

| | I have that one. Bought it a few years back, when I tried to get a sound for recording and practicing. Problem is/was I have an intel mac, found no way to get the combos in for recording, so I had to get hold of vst's. They didn't come with the thing back then. Which they seem to do now. That's good. I got myself a boss microcube, so now I have perfect sound, and line for recording, lots of amp models in the amp. But it's one way of getting the guitar on line level, hope you get it to work ok if you go for it. Consider getting an amp instead, though, not much more money, and you get much better sound, for practice and line for recording and even live playing, if you have pa.
Peace

| | Thanks Skei, I also had an Intel Mac. Right now I'm looking for the Line 6 products. It looks to me that they're more complete and profesionals than the Behringer. I'm going to check out the Microcube specifications. Thanks again. |

| | Behringer USB guitar interface Having tried various ways of getting guitar music into various Macs, I now have a Behringer USB interface. Have tried it only once since purchase, but it seems to be very good. Haven't bothered with the included combos. My main passion is jazz, and GarageBand does everything I need. However, the blues and rock amp effects in GarageBand do seem authentic. |

| | Yup, they're very good, very much 'amp' feel in those.
I just want a real amp, and if I ever would be playing live I'd get a bigger Roland Cube, I like those amps, really, but for now the micro cube is ok, and line in on the back of the macmini.
Peace

| | Thanks for the feedback alwaysfretting I still don't have the item. Right now I'm considering to buy the Line 6 UX-1. It has an XLR input for a mic and, like skei I have an intel mac and I do want to use the combos. But still thinking. First of all I'm giong to buy a Roland Cube 30x. I have read a lot about it, and in this forum there's a lot of fans of that amp. So... just waiting. |

| | I bought the Line 6 UX-1. I am happy enough with it... mostly. I do have an issue with it cutting out whilst performing live through the laptop into the amp, but I don't have these problems recording with the desktop system. It is probably due to a shitty sound card in the laptop.
Whatever you do, do not (and I mean NOT) buy one of those 1/4" to USB cords, nothing but crap. Yeah, the LIGHTSNAKE... Lightsnake USB to 1/4-Inch Instrument Cable 10 Foot USB-14-10 - SJ Media Systems DON'T do it.

| | Another option to go direct from your guitar to the PC would be IK Multimedia's Stealthplug. It's USB with an ASIO (Audio Stream In-Out) driver which is much better than the standard Direct-X or MME that comes with computers. There's also a headphone hook up on the stealth if you want to keep things quiet.I'm pretty impressed with it.It also came with Amplitube-2 live which is pretty good also if you are looking for different sounds for blues, rock etc.
Here's a link: StealthPlug
