Default real book software...not good..?

My wife recently bought me the real book software book 1 and 2 and frankly I am less than impressed with the following:

A. The fact it took my computer over 2 hours to install(I have a gen2 i7 procesor and 6g of ram)

B. I can't locate the midi files I read about online

C. It seems a challenge to navigate around

D. the price for what you get. I would rather have the real book CD I had a few years ago that had 12 or so real books in .pdf format.

E. It seems a challenge to navtigate....

I have yet to register it and have a solid mind to return it and get my $200+ back. Anyone else have experience with this cat or his software?

I had it and initally thought it interesting however it became very messy to use and filled up my Itunes with masses of songs with names like "99759765865184756970098-0" so I no longer bother with it and its sitting on a shelf gathering dust. To be honest I find more than enough stuff on youtube etc if I want to hear a song or simply download a midi and convert to BIAB if i need sheet music etc.
I think the concept is good but the exicution didnt quite work.

just my opinion

Mike

There are several people in this forum that have had bad experiences with this software. The fact that you even got it to load is a plus.

Do a search in this very sub forum and you see what others have posted

From the other Real Book software thread:

I know I've been guilty of that. To me this falls into the "two sides to every story" category. I thought I would chime in since only one side was being presented.

Why not also add the thoughts of all these other people that weighed in on another thread of the same name and I assume the same product. In general, it's easier to keep things on one thread rather than starting a new one. It makes it a little easier for people to talk on one conversation and it makes it easier to find a particular comment or contribution rather than searching through 3 or 4 threads of the same name.
If you add a comment here, could you also add it on the other thread(s) too? So we can talk on one place without constantly referencing Real Book Software thread 1, Real Book Software thread 2...
Just a thought.

I wrote the following in another thread when I noticed this one:

"I have it. I find it OK. It loads and it works just fine on My PC. I also bought his CD with the numerous Real and other fake books as PDF files. I have been able to find almost any tune I searched in those books. One very annoying thing is the 21 pages (yes, TWENTYONE!) of uninhibited praise for his own products one has to go through before arriving at the start page of the fakebook. But since it's always 21 pages, one learns to jump directly to page 22. Oh well ...."

The Real Book Software doesn't have the most professional layout or user interface, but - well - for me it works and the charts are clearer written and printed than in many of the fake books which obviously are hand written and photocopied several times many years ago. But the extremely negative comments have made me think if we are talking about the same software. As for the loading time, try to load the pro version of Adobe Photoshop.

And no. I'm not the disguised seller of this software. I'm real. I'm me. That said, I run for shell shelter .....

The concept of the software is great. I dabble in alto sax as well as work with a singer and the ability to transpose and print the charts and melody in different keys would be just excellent as well as practice with the backing tracks. It's too bad it can't be done properly.
