Check This Out! Guitar Pro 6

Hi there,

I've been thinking about buying Guitar Pro 6 recently and wanted to know what you guys think about it and if it's worth the 60 dollars or not.

Mainly, I want to write down licks or stuff I've been working on or stumbling over while playing. But of course I'd like to play songs I like without always buying the sheet music. Are there any Jazz songs available on the internet in guitar pro file format? And if, could you please tell me the internet address?

In any case, it would be nice of you guys to tell me your opinion and experiences with guitar pro and if you can recommend buying it or not.

Thanks in advance Blue(s) Skies

I believe you can demo it for free. Give it a try.

And, try tuxguitar.com, it's free and very similar to GuitarPro. Compare the two and decide if the $60 is worth whatever advantages there are between the two.

Also, tuxguitar can read guitarpro files.

I don't know of the availability of jazz tunes in GuitarPro (I just use the real book for tunes, I use notation software to write up transcriptions that I'm doing or to write out arrangements or orginal compositions for the band I play with).

For pop/rock/metal stuff, there's a wide variety of GP files on UG...but I don't think the same holds for jazz. if you want it to just write scores, get MuseScore. It's free too, but I don't think it can read GP files (not directly anyway).
