Is the Zoom H1 a good recording software?

I thought it was a piece of hardware.

My saxophonist has one.
He had a lot of problems with a capacitor inside.
So the battery was always low.

He sent the h1 many times before Zoom repairs it.

Now it's ok, but this problem is regular for this device.

i had an H2 and the battery door broke off after a week. I submitted 2 support requests and sent several emails and received no replies. I will not buy another one of their products. I ended up buying an Olympus LS10 and it's much higher quality than the zoom. Mics are much better too.

I've been reading the reviews on the H1 and H2 recorders. Some people claim that the sound is "pristine audio", while others say that the Zoom H1 and H2 fall short of professional sound quality. They both can record 24 bit/96khz but I'm not sure how good the built-in mics are.

Here's a video review of the H2...

The H2 is good for scratch recordings or a demo, but you won't get high quality out of it. It does have an external mic in, though, so I've heard some people just stick a mic of choice on a stand and stick the Zoom at the bottom for a pretty good mobile recording option.
