Default BIAB: How Many Computers Can I Load It On?

Hello,
I'm considering purchasing "Band In A Box", but is it one of those software products which you must register with a specific code, and load it on only one computer?
I puschased scientific statistical software once, but was stymied by the fact that I was unable to use it on all three of my computers.
It seems from what I've read that BIAB is the product of choice for back tracking, but I'd like to use it on my desktop AND laptop computers. I for sure don't want to pay $100 two or three times! I wasn't able to Google a clear answer. I do appreciate any insight-thanks! Jeff

I don't know specifically about BaiB, but generally the deal is 1 license = one machine. I expect this is the case for BiaB.

I would start by checking what is said on their website. You might also contact them and ask them directly. It might help if you can say that you will not be running more than one copy at a time.

I'll be interested to hear how you get on.

My understanding is that under the license you can only install the software on one machine however if you buy the hard disk version you can run that on as many machines as you like but will need to have the usb hard disk plugged in.

When installing you get the option to run from the USB drive which then installs a simple shortcut and the music fonts on your computer so that Biab can be run.

I suggest that if you use it this way you create a copy hard disk and run from the copy to ensure that you have a backup.

its a great program and operated that way you can take it to a friends place or if using live simply have a backup notebook should things go wrong.

cheers

Mike

Hi Mike! Thanks for the info, and nice Super 400! "Autumn In New York" (as recorded on your website) has a nice 30's jazz club vibe to it--you did that with BIAB? Can't wait to get it now! Cheers, and thanks, Jeff

Hi Jeff
All the recordings were done with Biab. Autumn in New York was an attempt at trading 4's with a Biab real instrument.. Very rough but great fun. Have fun with it its a great programme.
cheers

Mike

I had it loaded from CDs on a machine that subsequently crashed.

I used the CDs and loaded it all onto a new machine with no issues.
