Default Looking for REAL drums...I have to mention this offer for the Jazz Drumkit

Disclaimer: No, I am not an endorser of any company, in case anybody is wondering. I have been on this forum long enough you know?

I have posted recommendations on this forum for Toontrack EZdrummer, the program which has 'saved' my life in terms of song-writing.

I actually paid full price for the EZdrummer Jazz Expansion. Since then I have have signed up to Toontrack's mailing list and found out about this deal: Half off any drum expansion.

You need to have the actual EZdrummer program, but then you can get the Jazz expansion for just $40. I swear by it. Here is the link while the promotion lasts:

Buy Toontrack Jazz EZX Expansion Pack for EZdrummer Sample Library | Drum & Percussion | Musician's Friend

If you want to hear what the Jazz expansion sounds like, either go to Toontrack's website and listen to demos...or even check out my music page(I only use this expansion on the 'jazzy' songs, NOT the harder rock tracks)

Eman Sami | Gratis muziek, tourneedata, foto's, video's

If you are considering doing this, feel free to PM me any questions.

You can for example: Export MIDI drum file from Band in a Box, and then load in your sequencer to play the Jazz expansion.

Also...For jazz, I am guessing there are only four expansions you would consider.

1) Jazz expansion
2) funkmasters (to do that Herbie Hancock kind of stuff)
3) Latin drums (if you want to throw in congas for that Ray Barretto feel)
4) Classic drums (can be jazzy, but this latest expansion is great for fusion, classic rock, blues, etc)

I hope people catch on to this!

By the way, the new classic expansion is sadly not discounted (I paid full price for it, but still worth every penny for the blues/jazz/fusion stuff I like to do)

Honestly, just listen to the demos on the Toontrack sight, they are rather accurate.

As a warning, the MIDI files that come with it are somewhat limited, you need to depend on either BIAB midi drums, or your own which you sequence somehow(electronic drumset, AKAI MPD pads, free MIDI files, etc)

Finally, consider that recording a real drumkit professionally is reeeally expensive.

Imagine a full drum kit, in an acoustically treated room, with two/three condensers, SM-57 and MD-421's....not to mention preamps, tube-mojo, cables, mixer, inability to edit, etc.'

EDIT:

The drums in this video I made are from the Jazz EZX expansion (the MIDI is from BIAB):

Heavy,

I really like your guitar sound in the youtube video. What is that pickup you are using and what amp did you use?

Nice playing!

I think the sound is a combination of the Seymour Duncan Lil 59 pickup, along with the wenge/brazilian rosewood neck. I am plugged in direct, the sound is really from the guitar because it has that tone regardless of amp for the most part. This guitar really isn't picky when it comes to an amp, it always seems to work for me.

I love that guitar too much. I even have an Eastman with a Lollar Charlie Christian in it, and the strat is still my go to for beefy tone.
