| | Yo, man!
I don't know about the UX2, but I have the UX1, and it is great. I suppose the 2 is a further development of the 1, so it's probably better. The 1 is great and with the podfarm that came with it offers splendid clean jazz guitar amp sound, good speaker sims, lots of other stuff, like eq, reverbs, compressors, whatever you need. I'm just getting to know the thing, so I haven't recorded anything yet with it, just tried a lot of the possibilities, and i'm pleased. I'd recommend it if you need something for recording or practice, I even know a guy who uses it for live concerts, lining to PA and monitors. It's great. For me living in an apartment it's good, so I won't get thrown out by neighbors hating me for being noisy.
Peace

| | The UX-2 is a dual input version of the UX-1. It also has built in meter to monitor your levels.
With the accompanying Pod Farm modeling, and Ableton recording software it's a really great interface package.

| | I have it also. Initial setup was a little tricky at first, for instance, trying to get different software applications like BIAB to use the UX2 as the soundcard, but once it was setup, I think it's great. I've even got a couple of pedals hooked in to start/stop recording, and things like that. As an interface, it works great. There is a bunch of trial or limited use software apps in the package such as Ableton mentioned above, but the one that really grabbed me was the program called RiffWorks. It is basically a recorder that works like a looper pedal. The great thing is you don't have to step on a pedal to start the loop and have perfect timing to step on the pedal to stop the loop, because you enter the tempo, and number of bars you want to record before hand. Synches perfectly. From there, your recorded bars will loop endlessly, and opens up a new track for you to layer parts on top. It makes exploring and comparing new melodies a cinche. Layering harmony parts on top is easy as pie, and when you like the "riff" you've created, you can save it and drag it up into the sequencer. When you've got a collection of different riffs, you can arrange them into the sequencer to create a song. It's totally changed the way I write.
While this isn't really jazz, here is one of the first songs I arranged and recorded using the UX2, RiffWorks and the technique I described above. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=8194430
Let me know what you think.

| | I have the 1 as well and use it with garageband and have all kinds of fun with it. I know several other people that use it in a more "professional" setting than I do and have the same similar responses as I. It came highly recommended, and I recommend as well. Also I have heard that line 6 communicates with a larger group of programs than some of the other choices, for sharing and writing with others online. |

| | The install and primary upgrade through Line 6 Monkey can take a little while. But, once your computer has the drivers and accepts it as an input, all you need to do in any program I've tried, is select it from input choices and it always works. Once connected it's like a mic, with zero latency. Audio quality is really good. There are others that are better but, at much higher cost. Line 6 is on top of upgrades when issues arise. Bang for your buck, I don't believe there's a better interface out there.
