Gear USB Audio Interface ?!

Hi there,

I found some kind of cable audio interface on the internet.
The cable's like a usb to guitar adapter and you can just plug it into you're computer, start cubase and play what you want to record.

I don't want to buy a real interface at the moment because I can't dig deep into my pocket- therfore I'm looking for something under 30 bucks.

Do you think the quality of that thing is better than the old cassette recorder or do you think it's something for the dump .

Blue(s) Skies!

Dump!!

Has your computer got a soundcard? If so-you have a servicible interface (not good, mind-but better than that junk). All you need is something to amplify your guitar. What kind of guitar have you? Active or passive pickups? Have you a preamp/PA console/amp/mic or anything?

i don't get that.

I thought you needed an interface for the audio to be converted to something the computer can understand, in addition to a sound card.

Hi, here is some (Berkleer) elaboration on the matter:

Connecting Your Guitar to the Computer
Some computer audio interfaces feature instrument inputs. If you have one of these, you’re ready
to go. An instrument input is usually labeled as such, whereas a dedicated guitar input might say
“Guitar In” or “Hi-Z (high impedance) In.” This high-impedance input is best suited to the guitar’s
characteristics, but a typical instrument input will do nearly as well.
Instrument inputs and especially hi-Z guitar inputs are designed to match the level and
impedance of a guitar signal, and therefore give you a stronger, cleaner signal, usually with a
wider frequency range.

All the best

If your soundcard has an input-and they all do, then that WILL convert from analog to digital. All soundcards have A/D and D/A convertors. All you really need to do is make sure you have the right impedance and level going in. Most soundcards will have a line/mic input. That input is usualy switchable between mic level and line level in the software mixer, and is usually unbalanced stereo. Now- all you really do is to raise the guitar's volume to line level. A simple DI Box and preamp is all you need. Someting like the ART Tube MP is cheap and good enough, and will amplify guitar level to line level.

Hi there,

my equipment: Ibanez Semi-Acoustic, Line 6 Spider combo with a recording/ ear plugs jack( just looks like the input) and I got a lot of adapters.

Actually I never really liked do play over the soundcard or whatever because you can't play a crunchy blues or something like that- if you don't go over it with cubase again.
I like the sound of my amp, so I want to take it into the computer without a mic- if that's even possible. Is it?

There you go, then-just go out of the recording output of your amp into the input on your soundcard.

If You like You're amp sound, that means that You like the sound that it's makes so there is no other option then to use a uphone.. becouse even You're room size and shape makes why You like the sound. That is why many use uphones in studios ;p. The amp output direct to PC probably will nothing to do with what U like..
