Default Jim Hall's solo on Beautiful Love

I've spent a lot of time listening to Jim Hall but never much trying to figure out what he's doing. This clip shows his compositional or motif-driven approach to improv as well as any. It's cool to see in hard copy how his mind works in playing through the changes.

Thanks for the document ! I love this version, so soulfull. The motif-driven impro you talk about is exactly what my teacher tries to learn me. It takes some time, but in my opinion this leads to the nicest solos, and those the audience appreciate the most.

peace

I've heard Jim Hall described (by himself?) as a composer that happens to play guitar.
