Default You all Should...

If you get the opportunity to get to see Vic Juris perform, take a lesson, hang out or even see him walk down the street you should go and Say Hi, and bask in his unbelievable ability as a Musician.

Vic came up this last week for a series of clinics and lessons at my University where I teach at which climaxed in a concert we put on last Tuesday. Not only was Vic an impressive clinician with a goal in mind but he was humble, respectful and even refused to allow me to buy him diner two nights in a row. He knows more about the instrument itself then I could imagine let alone vocabulary and harmonic content.

Vic does a lot of teaching, privately. If he is in your area, or you're coming up to NYC etc etc I want to highly suggest you save your pennies for an hour with this guy. You'll leave inspired and a better musician then when you walked into the room. He's a Man that deserves more credit then he has received even though he's been critically thought of as one of the best in the world for 30 years or more.

Go check him out.

Vic is one of the most underated guitarist out there. The man is a monster player. Just look who he plays and has played with.

Back in the 80's he was the 2nd guitar for Larry Coryell. He's a member of Dave Liebmans band. He recorded with Jeanie Bryson (Dizzies Daughter if I remember correctly)

He's got a ton of albums out. One of my favorites is Pastels and another is Double Play with Marc Copeland on piano. Just great stuff.

He's a forum member at AAJ and I was reading a post about Kurt Rosenwinkle and Vic mentioned that a lot of his students were asking to learn Kurt's riff's.

After reading this I thought "man, what kind of moron students are studying with a world class player like Vic J, and asking him about somebody elses riffs? " I don't think those students realize how good they really have it.

I wish he would post here. Even just about gear.

And to echo Jake, go check him out.

I wholeheartedly agree that Vic is an amazing player. I heard him for the first time last year at Mayfair here in Pennsylvania with Dave Liebman. I was actually working as a vendor for a newspaper at the event and had no idea they were playing that night until I saw them on the itinerary.

I was truly inspired that night and went home to practice ferociously for the next 24 hours. Unfortunately rain forced them to stop halfway through their set. I was so disappointed. Since that night, Vic has become one of my biggest inspirations.

If you're reading this Vic, thank you for being the musician you are!

I only know Vic thru his music, some youtube stuff I have seen, some articles, and minimal interaction on another site. I have heard he was a long time student of the late Charlie Banacos. Other than that, I only know he has been on the scene a long time, and has the respect of many, many players.

Wow, this guys is amazing.

I've looked up quite a few youtube videos already, and he's a great player, but more importantly, he seems like a genuinely humble character.
