Default Use your ears

If you cannot hear, transcribe and play along with the recording, you're simply not ready to learn and play the tune

Default Or your eyes?

If you are struggling with learning this by ear check out the 'tube, there's a guy playing a fair version of it with the camera on his left hand. That should help.

I agree with Jones. But, more than unfriendly it is just wrong. I have been playing 30+ years and I can usually play anything I set out to learn -- some take more time to learn, some I learn by ear, most I read. But, having studied classical for most of that time, I have not worked on picking up pieces by ear lately, so have lost that skill a bit. I often "need to" (as if that's bad) read the piece or read it's core structure and riff from there.

So, mrussum feel free to ignore that comment. Learn the piece any way you can and enjoy it! You don't get any cookies for learning it by ear.
