This has been out since April (LP) and May (CD/digital).

An earlier thread: New Wes release: 'Smokin' in Seattle'

The LP release was just a limited run for Record Store Day and is already creeping up in price on the secondhand market.

Hi David, I must have missed that release
but no matter, I've got the CD now, no
longer an audiophile having donated my
player system to our Grand daughter on
    joining University( studying Music) and
downloads are convenient for music on
    the go in-car listening.

I sure wish they'd have included the entire 'Oleo'...damn......

There's also supposed to be a 'Wes In Paris' on this label due later this year ( ? ) .......

Thought there'd be music on this. Alas, not. The only one left is Jimmy. Still playing at around 85 or so...

Ron McClure took over for PC on this date. So he is still with us and going strong as well!

Wish they'd have left out the talking or is that just part of the trailer?

Some truth telling is in order:

    • 10 songs and Wes plays on the last 3.
    • On the last of the three it fades out during his solo!
    • Recording of Wes not great. Mic placement?

This is mostly about Wynton. Wes' playing is what you'd expect, so if you just have to have everything that he ever played - go for it. But this is NOT Smokin' at The Half Note by a long shot.

There's a reason for everything, including the reason this was not released earlier.

Wes is actually on 6 of the 10 tracks.

    Track Listing:

    • There Is No Greater Love (7:56)
    • Not a Tear (6:29)
    • *Jingles (4:31)
    • *What's New (4:51)
    • *Blues in F (2:44)*
    • Sir John (8:10)
    • If You Could See Me Now (5:54)
    • *West Coast Blues (3:56)
    • *O Morro Não Tem Vez (6:15)
    • *Oleo (2:08)

    Personnel:
    Wes Montgomery - guitar*
    Wynton Kelly - piano
    Ron McClure - bass
    Jimmy Cobb - drums

It's a shame about the fade-outs on some of the tracks (especially as the blues in F gets cooking), but hey, that's a live radio recording for you. Resonance Records can only work with what material there is. They get my thanks for doing the work digging up and putting out some great music in nice packaging, photos, notes etc, as a not-for-profit label and doing right by the musicians and their estates to boot.

It's not essential Wes, but a nice thing to have. I'm glad it's out there.

To me, every Wes release post '59 is golden!

This newly issued recording sounds MUCH better than "The Unissued 1965 Half Note Broadcasts"
I also love his playing on track #9 which is actually "Amor Em Paz" (Once I loved) and not "O Morro Não Tem Vez" as stated in the tracklisting. Brilliant.

Well then i need to give it another listen then. i assume you mean solos too, which is what I was looking for?

Never mind just ignore me. I'll listen for 6 Wes solos.

Agreed, I love Wynton Kelly's playing. But this was marketed as a big Wes find...

I remember Smokin' at The Half Note as a Wes led date. Maybe that was just a selective subset of the show(s)? I don't remember...

Anyway, this one feels like the reverse image of the first.

I believe this was part of the Wes appearance on the West coast.

But hey, any appearance of Wes in Seattle, as a leader or not, would have been a big deal.
