Default Lee Konitz solo on "All The Things You Are"

doubt this guy gets much love 'round these parts, but hey...i always think that the solo I'm working on presently is the best, but this one actually MIGHT BE.

things i noticed/learned...pretty much not one repeated idea, much more rhythmic variety than most players, following an idea through until it gets "out" and resolving it back "in", how cool straight 8ths sound after you've been swinging your ass off...AND starting the melody for this tune on the B sections is a cool way to play the head.

enjoy yo self!

Curious as to why you would think this and why, if your doubt is accurate, it is the case.

LEE is the man, a TRUE improviser. Definitely one of my favorites.

The first Time I heard Lee was on the Album "Thingin'" with Attila Zoller on Guitar and Don Friedman on Piano.
I also like "Parallels" with Peter Bernstein on Guitar. Their Takes on "How Depp is the Ocean" and "317 East 32nd" are great.
On "Tranquility" with Billy Bauer on Guitar I love "Sunday" and "When you're smiling"

Lee rocks!

Lee has been and will always be an ideal of what I hope to achieve on the guitar. I used to see him with Harold Danko and this version of All The Things is a bible of thoughtful improvisation:

Lee Konitz 10-Step Method

Sound Of Surprize (w/John Abercrombie) and Angel Song (w/Bill Frisell) are essential parts of my listening library.
