Default Charlie Baty:

I know he is having way too much fun to be a real jazz musician, but are there any fans of his here?

I"ve heard that he"s retired from touring, put away his electric guitars and
does some local gigs with an Django/Selmer accoustic guitar.
I really enjoyed his lessons on youtube with the blonde Gibson hollow-body
guitar, great on learning chords in context.

I really like his playing to. I had also heard that he retired and doesn't play as much any more which is a shame. Great player indeed!

Hey Mack- I saw those videos as well & they gave me some ideas. He definitely has a lot to say about applying bebop concepts to a 12 bar blues. Lots of cool chord subs & stuff. Too bad the poor quality of the recording.
I've seen him & The Nightcats before & was just blown away. Between Rick & Charlie they probably went through a pound of pomade in a weekend, lol
Wicked sense of humor also, & they harken back to a time when it was as important to look sharp as well as to sound sharp.

I remember boing at some free concert in the park here one time and those guys were playing. I remember thinking "oh great, another crappy blues band"... Boy was I wrong. Ended up having to pick my jaw up off the floor. Just goes to show you should always keep an open mind.
