If he's this fast and flashy at this age, God knows what he was like in his prime.

Tommy Emmanuel is a huge icon of acoustic fingerstyle guitar, easily one of the biggest names in that scene. Of course, he's also a monster guitar player in general and has played a lot of different styles over the years.

Since this is a jazz forum, here he is doing some Dave Brubeck. He starts out with Blue Rondo à la Turk, then goes into Take Five, and finishes with Birth of the Blues:

He's no slouch on the electric either:

It says his chief influence is Atkins. He sounds like on Atkins on steroids.

I love what he does, I think I've seen him live three times. Last time I saw him was with a band and he also played electric guitar and some solo pieces. A memorable moment from that night was when he played a solo version of Moon River on a tele, made me think of Ted Greene, magical!

Here's a bit of a surprise. Tommy says, with no tongue in cheek, "Tears in Heaven" is one of the greatest songs ever written and the bridge is a true masterpiece.

What a right hand he has! Nice use of hybrid picking and those runs were awesome.

He made a lot of music in that original video!
