Default Joe Diorio,YES PLEASE

I have recently discovered Joe Diorio, what a beautiful player, and im slowly adding to my library of music with his recordings.Does anyone know of any internet links they can share for interviews with this very fine musician? Ive only been able to find a couple,i would have thought there would have been a whole lot more considering how long hes been playing. Thanks to anyone who can help out!

Yes, Joe's The Man. His recordings are hard to come by these days, but get as many as you can. And his books... And his videos...

Joe is an all time great IMO. You can find his CDs on amazon, and also he has many GREAT instructional books and videos out there. I have his Giant Steps book, as well as a book called Fusion Guitar that I have reccomended several times.

To me, Joe Diorio is one of those guts that transcends the instrument, he isn't a guitar he is a musician and the guitar is simply the tool he uses to that end. I don't know a much higher compliment that I could pay than that

Thanks very much for the link, Sammo. Joe is an old friend from my time at G.I.T. and a I am looking forward to spending some time with him at the M.I. reunion in March.

I got to GIT a few years after Wiz, and Joe is certainly one of my heros. I still remember Howard Roberts telling us--Joe D. wasn't in the room--that in his opinion Joe Diorio was every bit the master that Joe Pass was. And Howard knew what a huge thing he was saying. The room went a little quiet and I think we all heard what each other was thinking: "Yeah, we know he's great, but c'mon...JP?"

Howard must have heard too, or maybe he'd even been checking himself, because after a moment he said quietly, almost to himself, "Yes, I think so."

"To Jobim with love" is one of my favorite albums of all time. The tone of Joe's guitar--I think it's an L4CES if not an ES-175--is utterly magnificent.

I noticed on Amazon.com that some of these albums are out of print and very expensive now! I'm lucky to have most of them. I think I have the one with Mick Goodrick on vinyl.

Can't some agile record company put together a nice 2- or 3- CD reissue of these great albums? Or a download-for-cash mp3 site? Seems a shame this great stuff is not more readily available.

Thanks for the story Flat.Yes ive been looking for where i can buy his albums but its not easy,i cant even find the Italian record label that was issuing them.Yesterday i was able to find a used copy of 'We will meet again' via the internet in a record store in Berlin,so im eagerly awaiting its arrival.I also found this clip from one of his dvds,a little difficult to find considering its 'nameless' title.I actually have this dvd hopefully arriving end of the week!
