Default Wes with Trane and Dolphy?

Legend has it that there was a live recording from the early 60's with at least these 3 . Does anyone know any more details?

Check this out:

Did John Coltrane and Wes Montgomery ever record together? - Yahoo! Answers

Then, check the date of the "All About Jazz" piece. It's an April fools gag.

They did not record together though I do recall reading in a Trane bio that they did a gig together, or rehearsed together at some point, around the time Wes made "Full House" out in Berkeley, CA. They discussed making a recording but it just never happened. Can't remember if Dolphy was involved in that.

Perhaps others can chime in on this and provide more info.

Yes unfortunately no recording exists of this show. A cruel April Fool's joke indeed.

Wes sat in with Coltrane's band in 1961 (when Dolphy was part of the group); they played the Monterey Jazz Festival. Coltrane apparently wanted Wes to make the group a sextet but Wes said he didn't like waiting around a long time to take a solo. The book Coltrane On Coltrane has more information on this.

From what I understand there was some tension between Wes and Dolphy as well. I read somewhere that Wes fealt Dolphy was always trying to out Coltrane Coltrane, and Wes didn't care for that.

As much as I love Wes that has to be one of the dumbest criticisms I've read about that band.

I wouldn't be so quick to believe the "dumbest criticism" as the words and thoughts of Wes.

Not everything we read somewhere is true. Not everything stated on the internet is true.
