He had such a cool, laid back style. RIP Melvin!

| | wow, this is sad news. he was a super-nice guy—and such a generous one. he had oscar wright, a friend of mine (and an old friend of his), sing a tune on his latest album, just out of friendship. oscar hadn't recorded since the 1960s and he had mentioned to melvin how much he missed the music biz. melvin invited him up to new york and featured him on a tune. i thought that was so nice. oscar, his wife, and i got to see melvin in action when he played at a small club in raleigh a couple of years ago. the band grooved for days and everyone had a great time. RIP, melvin. you will be missed. |
