Default Best Grant Green album to start with? How about Bill Evans?

Hey everyone. I was wondering which Grant Green albums are the most essential, the "cut the bs, you need to hear this one first" kind of albums.

Same with Bill Evans. Thanks all!

With Grant I would start with "Green Street"

Bill Evans: Undercurrent and Intermodulation have the advantage of Jim Hall playing as a duo with Bill. "Portrait in Jazz" from 1959 is a top one as well. (The first 2 Evans albums are worth getting just as Jim Hall albums.)

You'll hear different answers from everyone.

For Grant Green, "Idle Moments" is supposed to be considered his best album. Personally, my favourites of his albums are "Green Street"(him in a trio setting) and "The Complete Quartets With Sonny Clarke".

As for Bill Evans, I like "Everybody Digs Bill Evans" and "Portrait in Jazz".

'The Latin Bit' and 'Live At The Lighthouse' are amazing recordings by GG...
you can easily hear how he influenced George Benson and even Pat Martino.

The first Bill Evans Album I bought was called "The Bill Evans Album". I love it.

One of my favorites. He switches between acoustic and Fender Piano. Great tunes on it as well.

The transcription for "the Two Lonely People" is in one of those inexpesive Bill Evans collections incluidng the first chorus.
