Default howard alden was on my TV!

i had almost forgotten about the music channels on my TV—i just happened to be channel-surfing 'way up the dial this morning and stumbled across an excellent interview on the "real jazz" channel. a show called "jazz inspired" was on and howard alden was the guest. he talked about all things jazz guitar and played a few tunes with the host, pianist judy carmichael.

what i most enjoyed was his playing of a solo chord/rhythm guitar piece by carl kress and his declaration that there are few good rhythm guitarists. he said that when comping, most guitarists are biding their time until their next solo, LOL.

the podcast can be found on iTunes.

Default Howard Alden

Howard's first gigs were for playing Banjo in Pizza Parlors as a teenager. His guitar interest started later. He taught banjo in my teaching studio when we were both attending G.I.T. in 1977-1978.
