| | Who is Taking Jazz or Fusion to the " Next Level " Who is playing today and taking Jazz or Jazz/Rock or "Fusion" to a new level either by putting it in a different context like Steely Dan did/does, taking it to new places harmonically, rhythmically or technically,or sonically like Carlton and others did , or maybe taking solo jazz, or solo guitar to another level on 7 string.
So I'm curious as to what Artists either solo or Ensemble Players who are "expanding" the boundaries, and I want to use the term " Jazz" very loosely here, World Music, New Age, Acoustic, Rock any kind of fresh sounding "harmonically expanded" music on guitar or with guitar.
A few years ago on the radio( which you don't hear any more) I heard someone and thought "that sounds like Pat Metheny but with more chops "- and it WAS Pat Metheny- so this could be some established Artists breaking new ground as well.
This is not as easy or common as one might think-because SO much ground has been covered at this point.
Who's doing it ? Or maybe a special album that an Artist did .....?
Thanks.

| | Probably half of all jazz recording artists under the age of 35 are doing it. That narrows it down to a few hundred...then there's all the guys over 35...

| | I saw Jonathan Kreisberg a few months ago and thought his new tunes were really fresh and exciting. He was experimenting with different pedals and the band was just ripping it up.
Very much looking forward to the new album! |

| | I'm a huge Holdsworth fan, he's always pushing the boundaries on what can be done on guitar. |

| | Tim Miller is great as well:
The quality of these clips don't do him justice though. His trio discs are excellent! |
