Default Is this forum strictly about jazz guitar?

It's just I had thought of posting a link to something I wrote to get peoples opinions. It would be good to hear the thoughts of good musicians for a change. The problem potentially being that my music isn't jazz and the song sample is completely programmed so there is no real guitar in it.

But here it is anyway. I program these to send to the rest of my band because we work over a long distance mostly. Witches Wishes by Suunshyne on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free Disregard the last minute of this song because it's not staying in!

Cheers if anyone listens! =]

I didn't just sign up here to post songs! It was just a passing thought that this forum would be home to a higher standard of musicians who might give a good critique. I originally signed up when I'd begun to learn about jazz theory last year or so.

Not my cup of tea, but sounds like a lot of work went into it. If you want to record your guitar over the top, I have a few suggestions. One would be to use some very busy lines to fit the sound of the rhythm track, maybe like some of the 70s John McLaughlin stuff. The other would be some long sustained melody lines in clear contrast to the frenetic pace of the existing parts.
Just my 2 cents.
Brad
PS As another poster implied, we really like guitars in our music

I like the track. It has a very modern sound to it. I mean this as a complement, but it reminds me a bit of chiptune music, like Sega Genesis soundtracks, like Sonic the Hedgehog. I can definitely see some guitar worked into this with minimal changes to the mix.

You have many elements of Jazz in this: syncopation, (slight) swing, rhythmic variation. Now if you want to make us happy, add guitar. (Just kidding, I make electronic music too)

Real instruments? That might be subjective.

I like it...

Don't take this the wrong way, but it sounds like a sketch to me that would eventually be played by live musicians, like a larger ensemble or a pat metheny group type thing...i'd certainly like one of those grooves to lock in for a minute or two without too much melodic interjections so I could stretch out on it, pull out all my pat licks...

I enjoy electronic music a lot, but I prefer it when it's comprised of sounds that are beyond the realm of traditional instruments...I like stuff like microhouse and glitch for example...

But I do think this track is cool...i'd love to play music like this in a group...super tight arrangements and then big improv sections where we could really play...

It's nice and interesting. I like the way the notes go together.
It sounds hard to play. Killin!

I love Bjork. Can't wait for this album's release later this month... non-jazz intelligent music is always a treat. I just got into Jaga Jazzist, a really cool band in the vein of Tortoise.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. =] Though a few seem to have missed the purpose of this track though. It's programmed in Reason so I can send the file to the guys in my band to learn/practice it before we get together for practice sessions. The track that sounds most like a a guitar in this track is the guitar part. It's supposed to be played by a group of four. If I can make a decent quality recording I will though.

As for sounding like SEGA music, I get that alot!

Bjork is so awesome.

The best thing about jazz and jazz musicians is that, for the most part, they are very knowledgable and appreciate quality music of all genres.

Yeah, they're also more theoretically and usually technically advanced. I don't listen to much jazz but I love the crazy theory. My favourite genres are sort of progressive or technical rock/metal.

This band is neither but I reckon quite a few on here would love them ‪A Night at the Spleen‬‏ - YouTube
