| | Not a big fan, but Chris Cornell does have on of the best rock'n'roll voices ever....
....and Big Star kick ass. One of the best rock bands to ever come out of the south. Alex Chilton + Chris Bell = southern gothic Lennon/McCartney, IMHO....

He'll always be remembered for his work with the Box Tops (-he was a wee lad of seventeen when he sang "The Letter," which was the first single I ever bought). Their first two albums were great, and "Sister Lovers" has a lot of good stuff on it too.

| | such a freaking waste, and a sad story, big star, those two guys, and all of it,
and if one of the purposes of music is to communicate a feeling, I'm not sure those two have ever been topped in pop music. |

Chilton was still making albums when I was a record reviewer and I said good things about a couple of 'em, but they couldn't touch "O My Soul," "Mod Lang," or other Big Star classics. That band had such a great bright pop sound and a great soul vibe.

| | I love Soundgarden and Big Star. Both are great bands. Chris Bell and Cornell had/have wonderful voices as did Alex Chilton.

I'll be playing this on Friday and Saturday, amongst other 'covers' that we perform (but is it 'jazz'..? ).
